HELLO from Heather Edwards

Taking care of our world and nature is a theme Heather Edwards always includes in her books. Her stories are full of information and illustrations about animals and conservation, from caring for animals and our environment, to humans, their needs, emotions and feelings.

She works in two areas:-

First writing scientific fantasies aimed at 7-15 year olds.
Her trilogy about Featherpaws, involves how science can act for good and bad, and how children should make scientific inquiries, questioning why adults are destroying nature.
She has also produced a series of sci-fi/time travel books about Draco, who is an orphan and lives in space with his robotic guardian Sky Mother.

Heather's story/picture books also involve animal characters. The stories have a therapeutic thread running through them, dealing with emotions, nurturing and inspiration. She interprets these feelings through brightly, coloured illustrations. Her stories stimulate the young reader into developing positive actions in life.

I think the rainbow spider is really good, and I like the drawings and paintings, especially the dotty spider. It has lots of nursery rhymes and spider stories. I laughed at the funny joke ending, and learned a lot of interesting things from this book.

I like this book because it is funny and grabs your attention and it is very active. It's about Splash-a-lot finding a message, which sends him on a long adventure. He attempts to try and stop getting angry otherwise the sea gets rough. I like the colorful pictures as well.

Looking after our world and animals

Featherpaws is a lonely Jigsaw creature, and he was sent by a scientist to find friends, and that's what he does. You will walk into Featherpaws's journey as he encounters new friends. I think the story is really creative and adventurous. It allows kids to think about the future and to make sure we look after animals instead of making them prisoners.

It was very interesting and Crystal the bird was as beautiful as a butterfly. The best part was when she didn't have anywhere to live, and when the shopkeeper found her. I also like the part when the people come into the antique shop, and a tear fell from their eyes and turned to crystal.
Just bought "I'm Growing in your Arms" written by Heather Edwards. The story line is enchanting... is the best way I can describe it. I shall be re visiting your books time and time again Heather Much love x  Roberta

Amazing illustrations showing me how to grow up with the love and help of my family and teachers
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 April 2016
I am giving this book five stars because the illustrations are amazing. It is very adventurous because you find new places to visit in your imagination. The story is about reaching for the stars and finding your own personality and discovering your skills and hidden talents. The story makes me feel safe and being watched over by my family and teachers.
Goodreads asked Heather Edwards:
How do you get inspired to write?

Heather Edwards answered
I love to be close to nature. My grandparents had a farm, and I spent most of my time there as a child. They taught me about nature, wild animals and farm animals. My favourite place to write is in Wales. I stay at a little county village by the sea, with cliffs and sandy beaches, there are even dolphins in the bay! At home the garden inspires me, I have lots of trees and flowers in my garden which attracts many wild birds. There's even a waterfall, the sound of running water soon inspires me because it makes me relax.
Goodreads asked Heather Edwards:
What is the best thing about being a writer?

Heather Edwards answered
I am doing what I have always wanted to do, tell stories to children. I like to learn and I am constantly learning. I love to encourage others to learn, I think it must be the teacher in me! I also enjoy illustrating as well, so I'm lucky to be able to take all those magical stories and pictures in my head and put them in a printed book, or a kindle book. I also delight in telling stories through Drama and making animations. I continue to present a weekly radio program, so that I use my writing skills to make short stories called Radio Links.
